Welcome to our first newsletter of the year.

2015 was a busy year for us, with a healthy mix of large and small projects for prestigious new customers and old friends alike.

As part of our ongoing development we have recently taken on 2 new members of staff; Kai Holloway, who is making good progress as a trainee installation engineer, and Andrew Rees-Reynolds, who has taken over the running of our maintenance and servicing department. Andrew has already had a major impact on the efficiency of our customer service – introducing tablet computers to our service engineers, allowing test certificates and reports to be typed on site and, in nearly all cases, emailed to the customer the very same day. Andrew introduces himself in more detail below.

Our new Aero range of general-purpose laboratory fume cupboards continue to sell well alongside our ultra-durable all-GRP moulded AeroExcel range. We can now offer our fume cupboards with more energy-saving and safety features than ever before, including LED lighting, VAV controls, fire-suppression systems and auto sash closers with proximity sensors. Additionally, a new range of all-polypropylene ventilated storage cabinets are available, designed to fit beneath the legframes of the fume cupboards and eliminating the risk of corrosion that can blight traditional steel storage cabinets.

Thank you all for your custom over the last year. I look forward to building on our relationship through 2016 and beyond.

Save on Maintenance Call-Outs

Stray tissues, gloves or tin foil caught in the extract fan impeller are often causes of maintenance call-outs.
Once wrapped around the impeller these induce noise and vibration and can drastically reduce the performance of the fume cupboard. Our new tissue guards are an effective low-cost solution.
Fabricated from S316 grade stainless steel for chemical resistance they simply slot into place between the rear baffle and the worktop. Available now for all makes and sizes of fume cupboard.

10% Discount on Airflow Monitors for Education

We are still surprised at the number of school fume cupboards that aren’t fitted with any form of airflow monitor or alarm to protect the teachers and students. This is equally true of prep room fume cupboards, where the volumes and concentrations of chemicals used are likely to be more hazardous.

We are one of the few fume cupboard manufacturers to produce our own range of airflow monitors. To promote safer working practices we are offering a 10% discount throughout March and April to supply and fit Fumair airflow monitors to new or existing education fume cupboards.
Please contact us for further details.

Sticky Sashes!

It has come to our attention that a number of clients have difficulty raising and lowering their fume cupboard sashes, usually due to seized or dry sash pulley bearings.

These are issues that should be identified and rectified during annual servicing but we know of many servicing companies that fail to do anything more than test average face velocity.

In nearly all cases a stiff or sticky sash can be quickly and simply resolved. Please contact us if you are experiencing problems.

Andy – Our New Service Manager

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Service Manager at Fumair Ltd. It is a great privilege to work for a British manufacturer that have provided outstanding quality products and services to UK laboratories for over 40 years. It was instantly apparent that Fumair is a company with real passion, belief and pride in what they do, with a loyal and prestigious customer base.

Having previously worked in the mass IT, Print and Telephony industries, the move to a family-owned manufacturing business is, pardon the pun, a breath of fresh air!

My remit here is to develop the quality and range of services we offer. It’s a legal requirement to have your fume cupboards and LEVs tested and inspected annually. If we are not your current provider we would very much like the opportunity to quote for the work.

I look forward to meeting and speaking with many of you over the coming year.
